Final Blogpost for the Semester

In this being the final blogpost of the semester I will be reflecting over mostly everything that happened this semester in Computer Programming.
When I first entered the class in August I really didn’t know what to expect out of it. I wasn’t the kind of person who was into computer stuff or programming or any kind of thing like that. The first six weeks was kind of easy because we didn’t really do any kind of programming. All we would were group activities that were mostly puzzles and I really liked the fact that they were in groups. The computer-buying project was something that was really cool and I enjoyed doing because I got a 91 on it. Also the TED talks we would watch in class were really cool. I ended up getting a 98 in the class for the first six weeks.
The first time we did some kind of programming was with the HTML/CSS project. In this project we had to build our own website using the specific codes that go along with HTML and CSS. In the beginning I was REALLY confused on what to do and I spent a whole day just doing nothing because I didn’t know what to do. After getting some help from other teammates I finally figured out how to use HTML and CSS and my website was on a soccer team called Real Madrid. I ended up getting a 90 on this project, which I was satisfied with because it was pretty good for the experience I had with it.
In the second six weeks I ended up getting an 83 and the things that brought my grade down were the quizzes because they were hard. I really did not enjoy taking those quizzes because they were worth 40% of out grade.
When scratch rolled around the corner, I was really getting the hang of it and I actually kind of liked it for some odd reason. I thought that the first few labs were easy and that they weren’t teaching me anything. As time went on though they actually became harder and I was really having trouble with them. I ended up finishing all the labs except for the number guessing game and the rock, paper, scissors, labs and I got two zeros. I thought that the quizzes over Scratch weren’t hard it’s just that I didn’t pay attention to the questions on the quiz.
When it was time to do Jeroo, I was SO lost in the first labs and I didn’t know what to do. It took me at least 30 minutes just to figure out how to do the first lab, 1A. I got some help from some classmates and after a while I started to understand what to do. The first quiz we ever took on Jeroo I got a 40, but I retook it and got an 80. After going over the answers I got wrong I figured out why they were wrong. I finished all the labs that need to be finished and I retook all the quizzes up to 70’s. Something that I found hard about Jeroo was the compounds if because I didn’t really understand those at first but I started to get the hang of it little by little. I am a little bit nervous about the final for this semester because it is over Jeroo but I think I will do pretty well on it.
Overall this semester in computer programming was pretty fun and I enjoyed it. I really think we should watch more TED talk videos because those were always pretty interesting. I also am curious on what will happen when we get back next semester. I really want to explore Python because it is very similar to Jeroo and it seems cool. Well I hope you enjoyed this final blogpost for this semester and I hope it gave you a over view of this semester. Soccerdude17 out!

More Jeroo!

This week was pretty interesting in class. There was only two days of class of days this week. On Tuesday we continued to work on the Jeroo activities from the class period before. I finished all the activities up until 3A. On Thursday we learned more about loops in the Jeroo. I continued to work on the activity 3B which I had running but I ended up doing something and messed it up and then it wouldn't work anymore. There was also a worksheet that went along with that day which I did not finish but I will and turn it in on Tuesday. I am having some trouble with loops in Jeroo and I am getting a bit confused but I will figure it out. There was also a quiz on Thursday that I didn't do that great on so I will retake as soon as possible.

Jeroo!

This week in class was pretty interesting. There were 2 days of class this week and they were cool. On Tuesday we continued to work in Jeroo. We started something in Jeroo called methods. This was kind of confusing for me at first but I am kind of getting the hang of it but I still believe I need some more practice. After that there was a worksheet to complete over methods which I did. On Thursday we continued to work on the activities from Tuesday which I did not finish but I finished Thursday. Also if you had the opportunity to you could have started with loops in Jeroo. I decided not to and just wait until next week to start loops.

The adventures of this week!

Well there were 3 days this week in class. I have to say this week was pretty hard. on Tuesday we had assignments assigned to us in Scratch. The first assignment was pretty easy. The second assignment was hard and it took me over one hour and a half and a little bit of the the next class period to finish it. We also had another quiz over scratch over if's and and's which I didn't do so well on. On Friday we started with Jeroo and the basics of it. We had to do three activities with Jeroo and I finished the first two and almost about to finish the last one.  I kind of thought it was hard so I think I need a little bit more practice. We also had to do a worksheet on Jeroo.

Scratch all this week

There was 2 days of class this week. On Tuesday we continued to work in the programming language Scratch. There were activities that we had to do in scratch where we had to do all kinds of things. I knew that on thursday we were going to have a quiz over scratch. Thursday was today and we took the scratch quiz. I ended up getting a 70 on the quiz. I was kind of worried but atleast I passed it. I am liking scratch a lot because it is really easy to understand and use. On tuesday of next week we will continue to work on the scratch assingments. I am looking forward to next week. This week in class was pretty interesting. On tuesday we had to do an activity where there were pictures hidden in pixels and we had to use special codes to reveal what the three pictures were! The first picture was the Ifol tower the second was the statue of liberty and the last was the golden gate bridge. On thursday we had to learn a new language called scratch. We had to do many different activities in scratch. On friday we had to continue working on the Activites in scratch. I actually like scratch because it is easy to understand and use. This weeks blog post!

This week in class was kind of the same as last week. There were only 2 days in class this so it was interesting. On Tuesday we continued to add to our webpage. We added new things to our wesites by usign CSS and formating the different things Mr. Stephens required of us. On Thursday we continued to work on our webpages to work on them. They were due that day so everyone was in a rush to finish their page. I managed to finish my page and send it to Mr. Stephens by email. We also had a quiz on HTML and CSS which was 25 questions long! I think I did pretty well on the quiz but only time wil tell how I did. Well thats this weeks blog post. Soccerdude17 out!

Blog post

Well there was only class 2 times this week. On Tuesday we had a sub. The sub didt do a good job on explaining what we had to do that day. All he did was tell us to work on our website. On Thursday we kept working on our website and we had to add 2 more pages to has a total of 3 pages! We also had to use CSS to build our website. I will start using CSS on Tuesday to modify my website. That's this week! Soccerdude17 out!

This weeks post

I gotta say this week was kind of interesting! On Tuesday we were working on problem solving and it was pretty easy! On Thursday we did an activity with groups which was called muddy city. In this activity we had to come up with solutions to problems a city was experiencing with it's roads, that's was pretty easy. We also started learning about HTML. On Friday we made a webpage about something of your interest. In the beginning I was really confused about html but after asking a few friends I was getting the hang of it! And that is this weeks blog post.

This Week

This week in class we finished the privacy activity. We also had to pick a problem in Austin and we had to identify the problem and the solutions and what research or knowledge we had to solve the problem. My groups problem was the wildfires in Austin. On Thursday we had to get in groups and keep and we were given 3 problems and we had to come up with solutions to the problems and share them with the teacher. I still think we should have a activity in class involving iPods and iPhone's.

This week's Post

To be honest this week in class was kind of boring. We had an activity to do(privacy) where we were given a scenario and we had to answer questions about that scenario. On Thursday my group had to present our scenario and explain different things like privacy. I still really want to do some kind of activity in class where we involve everyone that has a iPod or iPhone in the activity. Today in class we watched some videos and the one that interested me the most was the last video we watched about the touch screen pad the man had on display and was showing the audience how to use. It really amazed me that that touch pad could do all the functions that it can do.

This Week

There was only class 2 days this week. I missed one of the days of class, so today was the only day I had class this week. Well I had to research some kind of web 2.0 applications so I decided to pick the web site www.myschoolog.com. In class I had to present what that website is helpful with and all the different things it had. I learned a lot about the other web 2.0 applications that everyone else presented on, like how they work and what there main purpose is. I still think we should do some kind of activity in class involving iPods, and that's my blog post for this week.

What I Learned This Week

This week in class was very interesting. I learned the different parts of the computer and how they work. I also was in a group where we had a computer buying project to do. In this project we had to pick the perfect computer for the person we interviewed and explain why it was the perfect computer for them. I am not really interested in the class so far but it could get interesting in the future. I think we should do some kind of activity involving ipods or iphones since most of the class has one of these two.
